Plain English, no surprises. These terms apply to all MFF memberships, including Founding and Early Access memberships purchased before opening. Version 1.1, July 2026.
A one off joining fee of $45 applies to all new memberships. This covers account setup, access activation, onboarding, and administration.
The joining fee is waived for Founding Members who purchase a 12 month upfront membership before opening.
The joining fee is non-refundable, except where required by law.
For Founding and Early Access memberships purchased before opening:
This gives every pre-opening member the full value of their 12 month term while keeping membership administration consistent.
The official opening date will be confirmed and communicated by us. If the opening date changes, Founding and Early Access memberships purchased before opening will not begin, and no membership time will be used, until the gym is open and available for member use.
You may cancel your membership within 7 days of joining by giving us written notice (see clause 9 for how to cancel).
For memberships purchased before opening, the 7 day cooling off period starts from the official opening date.
If you cancel within the cooling off period, we will refund all membership fees you have paid, less:
Refunds under this clause will be paid within 7 days of your fob being returned (or, if no fob was issued, within 7 days of your cancellation notice).
A 12 month membership is a fixed term membership. Once the cooling off period has ended, the membership continues for the full 12 month term unless cancellation rights apply under these terms or by law.
If you have paid upfront, your membership runs for 12 months from your activation date (see clause 2). If your membership activated automatically because you did not attend within 30 days of opening, your 12 month term runs from that automatic activation date.
After the cooling off period, a 12 month membership cannot be cancelled simply because you change your mind.
We will fairly assess cancellation requests made in genuine circumstances, including serious illness, injury, relocation away from the area, or financial hardship. We may ask for reasonable supporting information (for example, a medical certificate or proof of new address).
We will respond to any hardship cancellation request within 10 working days. If a cancellation is approved, any refund of upfront fees will be calculated on a pro-rated basis for the unused portion of your term, and may be adjusted for any promotional discount you received on joining.
If we make a significant change to the gym's services, facilities, or access hours that materially affects your membership, you may end your membership without penalty. Any upfront fees for the unused portion of your term will be refunded on a pro-rated basis.
A 12 month membership may be transferred to another person with our written approval. The new member must complete onboarding, provide the required health and safety information, and complete access setup before using the gym. A transfer fee of $25 applies.
All cancellation notices must be in writing. You can cancel by sending us a written message through the contact form on our website or by messaging our Facebook page. You do not need to visit the gym in person to cancel.
Your notice takes effect from the day we receive it. We will confirm receipt of any cancellation request in writing.
Memberships are personal to the member and cannot be shared. You must not allow any other person to use your membership, access details, app, fob, or entry method, or to enter the gym with you outside of any advertised guest arrangement.
Misuse of access may result in suspension or cancellation of your membership.
Refunds will only be provided where required by law, under the cooling off period (clause 4), under the material changes clause (clause 7), or where a cancellation is approved under clause 6.
Where these terms allow a deduction from a refund, the only deductions we will make are: the joining fee (where charged), the $10 access fob fee (where the fob is not returned), and pro-rated adjustments as described in clauses 6 and 7.
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
A no contract membership is available on the Standard plan for an additional $5 per month. No contract memberships have no fixed term.
You may cancel a no contract membership at any time by giving us 2 weeks' written notice (see clause 9). Your membership and billing end at the close of the notice period.
The joining fee (clause 1) and cooling off period (clause 4) apply to no contract memberships. Clause 6 does not apply, as no fixed term exists.
